Work on your upper body as much as your lower body. Those first few days you'll need your arms and abs to get back up. Some gyms offer ski fit classes, and although they are "ski fit" it helped me get in shape for snowboarding just as much! My best season, I did spin classes 2-3 days a week and then I did a muscle sculpt class the other 2-3 days...that kicked me into shape!
